Use string or paper and the chart below.

1. Wrap a piece of string or a thin strip of paper around the base of your finger.
2. Mark the point where the ends meet.
3. Lay it flat and measure the length with a ruler. This is your circumference in mm.
4. Divide by 3.14 to get the diameter, then match it to the closest size on the chart.

Top tip: measure at the end of the day when your fingers are warm. Fingers are smaller in the morning and in cold weather, and your dominant hand is usually larger.
